I still don't agree with this.

I think this is an excellent article which redresses the unbalanced gospel put forward by so many today - God is calling us to a life of total submission to Him, not just some lovey dovey friendship with Jesus which is what so many seem to preach.

I agree not because John MacArthur is my beloved pastor but because he has CLEARLY explained to us what slavery means in a biblical view & at the end he has a point, we are enslaved in some way, either to sin or righteousness & Paul has illustrated this perfectly (Rom. 6:16). God isn't a tyrannical God who demands me to be His slave, rather I've submitted to His command to obedience & therefore I'm a slave to righteousness, to Jesus who OWNS me but also a friend in where there is deep love & joy.

I am sorry but I don't agree with this at all. The connotation for a slave is very different from one who is a servant. Jesus was a servant to those whom he lead. He was a servent leader. The Jews were taken from their slavery in Egypt and set free by God himself. God didn't then turn around and say, okay now you're my slaves. No He is the Supreme Head, our Leader, our Creator, but given into each of us Free will. Slaves don't have free will. God is the ruler of all but He does not make mankind His slaves. If man ways and thoughts were like God's, which God clearly says they aren't I could get with this, but since they aren't, no. You'll lose more then you catch with this and the point is to lead people to Jesus not away from Him. There is love in that bond, love and desire to serve the Lord because of how He is as much as Who He is. We all know who He is, but it is the getting to know how He is in relationship with Him that makes one willing to do and be all they can be for Him.
