Thanks for your thoughts! I agree! If our relationship with God is based on believing that God will protect us from all trouble, I think our faith falls apart at the first sign of adversity. We know that God works for the good of those who love him (Rom. 8:28), but we have to accept what God's definition of "good" is. That's not always a life of smooth sailing! Sometimes it's a life of "character building," and the "good" is a development of my dependence on Him. Also, we must remember that the Bible says "those who love him" not "he who loves him." I need to accept adversity in my life, knowing that the "good" may be the benefit of others, not me. I may never see completely, this side of heaven, how God uses my troubles to work for the good of all of those who love Him.

The tough spot is climbing onto the scale pan opposite our troubles, and once there, staying there as He heaps on more blessings.

Until we learn and grow, once things balance out, we tend to hop off and try it our way again. Oops!
