This really spoke to me. When I wrote "Crossing Over" for the book "God's Handprints," I spoke of having to cross a personal river to get to the other side, meaning Jesus.

It seems we all have to make a crossing at some point, as Jesus had to for us. The Israelites were no different, and your article really puts a visual to it. Water is a powerful metaphor for our faith.

It reminded me of the very first worship song I learned, a cantante titled "Elijah."
In it, it says "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness...prepare ye the way of the Lord...make straight in the desert a highway for our God."

I heard John the Baptist in my head as I pictured you dipping your hand into that water.

Thanks for such a nice reminder. I will carry it with me today.
