Great article. Thank you, Cinde.

Each time I consider the account of Jesus and Peter walking on the water, there is something that consistently encourages me. It's this: Peter is the one who asks Jesus if he (Peter) can come to Him (Jesus) on the water.

In the midst of the storm, Peter doesn't just wait idly by for Jesus to call out to Him. Rather, Peter initiates the dialog by saying in Matthew 14:28, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water."

In this life, all of us - every person alive - is always either about to enter a storm, or in the middle of a storm right now, or just coming out of a storm. That's just the way it is in this fallen world.

My encouragement comes in knowing that, no matter where I am in relation to my storm in life, I can call out to the Lord and ask, "Command me to come to You."

Regardless of His response - yes or no - I can walk in faith in His answer to my desire, my request, my prayer.
