 What is Your Soul Worth?

Matthew 16:26-27, For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? NKJV

If you were to ask people outside the church walls what their soul was worth, it would probably amaze you at the answers they would offer. Satan loves to make deals with people all the time. He talked Eve into sinning against God's will over a single piece of fruit. She saw that trade as a wise investment that would pay wonderful dividends.

Can you imagine someone given up their spiritual inheritance and eternal life for a piece of fruit? Didn't Esau sell his birthright for a morsel of bread and later realized what he had done but couldn't buy it back? According to hell's value the soul isn't worth anymore than something for someone to eat, wear, or a place to live. Satan offers something temporal in exchange for something eternal.

If you ask God, the Father, what a soul is worth you need not look any further than John 3:16. He gave His only begotten Son in order to ransom or redeem the soul of man back from the powers of darkness. So, I guess you can see who loves you more, or thinks more highly of your eternal existence and condition by looking at what they offer. There's no comparison between our God and Satan. Yet people worship Satan as though he were God. People try to elevate him to the same level as God.

God is a giver and Satan is a taker. The serpent that deceived Eve didn't give her anything but took what she already had from her. The fruit wasn't Satan's to offer nor was it Adam or Eve's to take because it belonged to God. So you see it wasn't the fruit that killed them but believing the lie of Satan and acting on it that robbed them of eternity.

Beware the next time something shinny catches your eye. Look out for the lies of the enemy that says, "You need that more than you need to be obedient to God or His Word." It's only a trap to take what already belongs to you through Christ who is your real provider.

Adam sold his soul for a piece of fruit and God bought our soul back with, "the Firstfruit"; Jesus. When Satan offers you a deal it will cost you everything...and you will get nothing but torment in exchange. When God offers you a deal it will cost you nothing but faith in His Son; and the rewards will last for all eternity. Now you tell me which deal offers the best return?

1 Corinthians 15:22-24, For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. NKJV

I'm a fruit for Jesus,
