Every Christian knows the story of the Prodigal Son, it may just be the most intimate story Jesus ever told. Perhaps that’s because we all know what it’s like to be lost and far from home. The separation can be excruciating, while the shame at our mistakes haunts our day-to-day lives. Yet, in the final moment of reunion none of that matters, all that matters is we are home. Watching the new trailer for Lion, Christians will certainly see shades of the Prodigal Son mixed in the tale.

Based on the book A Long Way home, Lion tells the story of Saroo Brierley, who as a child was separated from his family for 25 years. At the age of 5, Saroo became trapped on an empty train which took him 930 miles from his hometown of Khandwa, India. Labeled a lost child, he was eventually adopted by an Australian couple and grew up in Tasmania. Saroo would later turn to the internet to help find his family, resulting in a long, emotional search to find his way home. Currently, Lion stars Dev Patel as Saroo Brierley, with Nicole Kidman and David Wenham playing his adopted parents.

Lion will premiere in theaters this November, but you can check out the trailer below!
