Stranger Things 2 Casts Former Goonies Star

The Netflix hit, Stranger Things, has already stolen the hearts of countless viewers, and it appears season two is raising the stakes even higher. According to Entertainment Weekly, show creators Ross and Matt Duffer will be adding three new characters to the upcoming season, including Sean Astin of The Goonies and Lord of the Rings fame. The other new cast members include Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen, and Paul Reiser, who appeared in Aliens. Many fans are applauding the casting choices, given that Stranger Things has often been compared to such films as The Goonies and E.T.

The show itself revolves around a small town in Hawkins, Indiana, where a young boy named Will Byers goes missing. As Will’s family and friends search for him, they discover a mysterious girl, stumble upon a government conspiracy, and encounter a horrifying creature stalking their town. Though a release date for the new season is still uncertain, Stranger Things promises to return with all the suspense of the original.
