1) Ted Griffin sent along this quote from French philosopher Blaise Pascal: “When everything is moving at once, nothing appears to be moving, as on board ship. When everyone is moving towards depravity, no one seems to be moving, but if someone stops, he shows up the others who are rushing on by acting as a fixed point.” That's exactly what we are called to be in these days of moral confusion--a fixed point of truth in world rushing headlong toward destruction.

2) A few days ago I offered a word of praise for Cocoa Krispies, the perfect snack cereal.  I also called Peanut Butter Captain Crunch a close second. The following Sunday someone handed me a bag with a box of Cocoa Krispies and a box of Captain Crunch inside. Last Sunday another person pressed a small box wrapped in brown paper into my hands. When I got home, I found out it was a gift pack of portion-sized servings of Cocoa Krispies and Cocoa Puffs. They had even designed a personalized label--"Pastor Ray's Snack Tray" and underneath it, "Piety Variety Pack." It just proves that the readers of this blog are both smart and extremely creative.

3) Roger Upton of Gaffney, SC, offers this addition to my comments about Moon Pies:

You haven't experienced life to the fullest until you've sat out on the porch in your rocking chair on a clear and hot August night here in South Carolina with a Moon Pie in one hand and an RC Cola in the other. Most people know about Moon Pies, but don't know about the RC Cola. By the way, I prefer the banana Moon Pies myself.

I agree entirely. Lots of folks up North don't know much about RC Cola, but that's how Moon Pies are meant to be enjoyed. I'm partial to chocolate, but banana is also good. There is no such thing as a bad Moon Pie.

4) Can reason alone lead us to morality and goodness? Dennis Prager says no, and explains why in this dialogue with a secularist.
