Atlanta Airport, 8:36 AM

I am writing this brief note in the Atlanta airport. Last Friday we flew to Chicago for four days where we had two home meetings, an Internet meeting, I preached twice on Sunday morning with a luncheon following, we had an afternoon meeting plus an early morning breakfast meeting, another lunch meeting, then a four-hour KBM board meeting on Monday night. Exhausting but exhilarating. Lots of good work accomplished in a very short time. 

Marlene flew back to Tupelo while I rented a car in Atlanta and drove to a state park near Chattanooga where I met with five Baptist pastors for a two-day retreat. We sat around the fireplace in the cabin talking about the ministry, preaching, the local church, plus plenty of time spent laughing and talking about everything under the sun. Yesterday we visited Point Park on top of Lookout Mountain, site of a pivotal Civil War battle (the "battle above the clouds") in November 1863. I went to bed last night at 12:15 AM, got up at 3:10 and drove back to Atlanta, hit bad fog, lost my way and skidded over a curb at 4:30 AM in some small town in north Georgia. Made it to the airport, turned in my car, checked in, passed through security, and am now waiting for the flight to San Jose, CA. Marlene will meet me there and tonight we will have dinner with Mark and his fiancé Vanessa and will do some wedding planning with her parents this weekend.

On Sunday Marlene flies back to Tupelo and I fly on to NY to teach Galatians at Word of Life Bible Institute. God willing, I will be back in Tupelo a week from tomorrow night. 

So I'm sitting here about halfway through our long trip, very grateful for the prayers of many friends. Someone told me to take it one day at a time, and I'm trying to do that.
