1) Wonderful line by President Bush speaking at President Reagan's funeral service yesterday: "In his last years he saw through a glass darkly. Now he sees his savior face to face."

2) Ditto for Margaret Thatcher who said, "And as the last journey of this faithful pilgrim took him beyond the sunset, and as heaven's morning broke, I like to think - in the words of Bunyan - that 'all the trumpets sounded on the other side'."

3) Michael Reagan spoke eloquently about his father's faith in Jesus Christ:

When he closed his eyes, that's when I realized the gift that he gave to me, the gift that he was going to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He had, back in 1988 on a flight from Washington, D.C. to Point Mugu, told me about his love of God, his love of Christ as his Savior. I didn't know then what it all meant. But I certainly, certainly know now.

4) Wonderful to hear the choir and orchestra play songs like "Softly and Tenderly," "Just As I Am," and "Holy, Holy, Holy" while waiting for the burial service in California to begin.

5) The opening words of the Heidelberg Catechism come to mind:

Question 1. What is thy only comfort in life and death?

Answer: That I with body and soul, both in life and death, (a) am not my own, (b) but belong unto my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ; (c) who, with his precious blood, has fully satisfied for all my sins, (d) and delivered me from all the power of the devil; (e) and so preserves me (f) that without the will of my heavenly Father, not a hair can fall from my head; (g) yea, that all things must be subservient to my salvation, (h) and therefore, by his Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, (i) and makes me sincerely willing and ready, henceforth, to live unto him.
