A new perspective

A Change in perspective

Thought- Sometimes all we need is a different perspective. A different outlook can produce a different outcome in our lives.

Scripture- “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” – John 10:28

Insight- So many times, my natural reaction is to be fearful when I feel like things aren’t going the way I wanted or expected. Rather than embracing the uncertainty of my adventure on this earth, I want to cling to my false pretenses of control. The very definition of faith is believing in things not yet seen, but let’s face it, we all want to see things before we believe them. Just ask doubting Thomas in the Bible. However, it really would behoove us to learn to change our outlook and perspective from one of feeling we are losing control of a situation to one of embracing and trusting God’s plan, even when we don’t like it very much or can’t see exactly what He is up to. Instead of being fearful about what we may lose in a given situation, how much different would it be if we asked God to reveal to us what we may gain?

How much different would it look like if we were always inquiring of God “what are you up to in this situation or what do you want me to learn from this lesson or trial?” Rather than an outlook of fear, it will instantly be transformed into one of deeper faith and alignment with God’s plan. A change in our outlook, will produce a drastically different outcome. We will look at all things as learning experiences, growth opportunities and wild adventures instead of trying to tightly cling to what we are so afraid of losing. Squeeze the fingers on your hand together tightly, as tight as possible, and then release them. That is the difference a change in perspective and outlook might bring: from bondage to fear, to freedom in faith, in which God sets you free indeed.

Prayer: Father God, we believe now help us in our unbelief, as Mark 9:24 proclaims! Help us to align our words and actions, our beliefs and our actions. Help our faith to overwhelm our fears as we surrender our lame vestiges of control over to you so we can enjoy the adventures you lead us on in this life. We pray in Jesus name. Amen!
