A time to stand

A time to stand.

A time to stand.

Thought- I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world, than stand with the world and be judged by God.

Scripture- “The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” – Proverbs 28:1

Insight: There will come a day for all people when their opinions will no longer matter. The only opinion that will matter is God’s. This will not be optional as Romans 14:11 says “It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.” The only question that will matter will be did we stand for the Lord and defend His Holy name, or did we cave into societal pressures where the mantra of the times was “anything but Jesus?” At that moment, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and every other social media platform yet to be created will be rendered totally meaningless. We live in a time where it is so easy to criticize people without facts, where anyone can say anything they want and then hide behind a façade of social media platforms. People today openly mock God and call evil things good, and good things evil. Isaiah warned people some 2700 years ago not to do that when he proclaimed in Isaiah 5:20 “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

The world is in turmoil right now, there is gridlock, corruption and chaos all around politics, government, sports leagues, Universities, families and on and on it goes. Everyone wants a voice and demands to be heard, even in areas where they have no credentials, but the Internet makes everyone a Doctor and a Lawyer and whatever else they need to be at the moment of the debate. Technology is replacing common sense and human interaction and love are being replaced by buttons on a screen. Many are turning away from the Only One who can give them the affirmation, grace and peace they long for, searching for it instead in a lesser god, and in some cases through playing god in a social media fed Darwinian game of survival of the fittest. I say I wish you good luck. But to quote from Joshua 24:15 “ But, if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Prayer: Father God, help people to see clearly that you are the answer they are seeking, and nothing else will ever satisfy. May we turn away from the things of the day that make us out to be emotionless drones and instead run to the truest form of love that exists in this Universe, your Son Jesus Christ. Help us to lead with our hearts, not with our tongues, and to validate the worth of every single individual we encounter. We pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
