Thought- Think global, act local.

Scripture- “For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action.” – 2 Corinthians 9:2

Insight: I heard about an initiative today that the NFL has out into place to honor the 100-year Anniversary of the league. It is calling for a million people to donate 100 minutes of time to a local cause or charity. If everyone does it, the end result will be 100 million minutes of community outreach. For sure, that will have a major impact on the communities where people are serving. We can’t do everything, but everyone can do something, and this is a great reminder of what can be done when people come together with good intentions to make an impact.

The early church was also called to action as believers were stirred by the disciples teaching to make an eternal impact for Christ. People shared what they had, prayed in fellowship together, and lived lives of purpose. They were all focusing on not what they could get for themselves, but rather on the impact of what would happen if they gave of themselves. They knew the key to successful living was to give away what Jesus had modeled for them. The same holds true today. What we get makes a living, but what we give makes a life.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for our actions to match our words as we surrender to you in hopes of doing good works that leave large impacts in our allotted time on this earth. I pray in Jesus name. Amen!
