Knowledge + application= success

Knowledge + application = success

Knowledge + application = success

Thought- Knowledge is essential, but without application it is insufficient.

Scripture- “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.” – Luke 6:46-49

Insight:  I struggled early on in my faith walk with learning how to apply all that I was learning from reading the Bible. This was causing me to miss out on all that Jesus wanted for me. I would read what to do, but wouldn’t put it into practice. I would also read what not to do, but still do it. This was born of fear and foolish pride. As I have learned how to not only read the Bible, but apply it in all aspects of my life, the peace and alignment in my life has greatly increased.

Of course, We all struggle to live this out 100% of the time. However, God knows our heart and appreciates our desire to apply his teachings t our own lives and circumstances. He knows we are broken vessels, so our hearts aligning with His will can alone bring a mighty increase in our output and the impact of our life. My futility is no match for his grace, love, patience and perseverance, so I must get back up every time I fall and try again. See what Jesus said about this in the Verses above from Luke 6. Are you actually doing what He says?

Prayer: Father God, help us to not only learn from your word, but to be able to apply it practically in our life. Without applying your word, we are building our house on a weak foundation and it is vulnerable to destruction. However, when we align our actions with the truth found in your word, then have a firm, unshakable foundation. We pray for this in Jesus name. Amen!
