The eyes of your heart

The eyes of your heart

The eyes of your heart

Thought- There is always a deeper revelation to be found in the mystery of God’s word if we are willing to take the time to search for it.

Scripture- “Pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” Ephesians 1:18-21

Insight- Our hearts have eyes? Really? Well, not literally  of course, but through the Holy Spirit there is revelation that can take place in our hearts through being enlightened to “see” what God is calling us into through reading His Holy Scriptures. When I first read this scripture above, it leaped off the page. Paul says in Ephesians 1:18 above “Pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people. It took me a while to contemplate this passage. But over time, the eyes of my heart were opened to a new level of revelation of the glorious inheritance that awaits us as His children. It doesn’t always last, sometimes the enemy will try to steal that vision or that joy, and that is why I must constantly return to having “the eyes of my heart” opened again and again through meditating on these scriptures. It always amazes me that no matter how many times I have read something in the Bible, there is always a deeper level of understanding and revelation that is possible. God is always teaching us how to apply these things into our lives to bring us more wisdom. That to me is one of the truly beautiful mysteries of reading God’s word. You never know what the Holy Spirit is going to reveal through the “eyes of your heart.” Have you asked Him to reveal anything to you recently? If not, why not set aside some time to find a passage that speaks to your heart, and see if He takes you deeper than you have ever gone before.

Prayer: God, reveal to us the deeper meanings found in the mystery of your Scriptures. Help us to learn how to apply them to our lives to make us wiser individuals and how to offer more help to others. You call us your “hands and feet,” so show us how to be effective using the gifts you have given us. We are amazed that there is always a deeper meaning for us to learn, as you open the eyes of our hearts. We pray in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
