Wounded but redeemed

Wounded but redeemed

Thought- Only the love of the Heavenly Father can heal the scars from the broken relationships with our earthly fathers.

Scripture- “Because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.” – 1 Thessalonians 1:5

Insight- I have only found one thing that can not only remove but also redeem the greatest pain in my life and that is the love of our Heavenly Father brought to life through His Son Jesus Christ. When I went through years of deep pain as a result of the broken relationship I had with my father, I struggled trying to fix my pain using all the self-help remedies I could get my hands on, but none of them ever satisfied. They were at best a temporary elixir that numbed the pain, but never removed it. For the pain was deep in my soul and no superficial remedy could fix that.

It was only when I encountered the love and grace of the Risen Lord Jesus Christ that all of my pain disappeared and was replaced by more grace and freedom then I ever knew existed in the entire Universe. Jesus removed the pain, healed the scars and gave me a chance at a life free from remorse and regret that had been plaguing my soul. He taught me how to forgive my earthly father and to trust alone in my Heavenly Father, who never lets us down. Following God is not easy, it requires great faith and trust, but not following Him is much harder. Trying to deal with deeply seared pain on our terms and in our own strength is futile. Only God can heal those wounds that otherwise would keep us in bondage the rest of our lives. God can turn the scars from our deepest wounds into stories of redemption, which in turn can help others. The circle of life in God’s glorious kingdom.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your love which can heal any and all wounds we have accumulated going through life in this broken and fallen world. Help us always run to you when we need healing. Your grace and love can heal us when nothing else can. We pray in Jesus name, Amen!
