Saved to Proclaim

Taken from Wholly Loved's Resting in Grace Bible reading plan, available for free on the YouVersion app.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9

I’ll never be an overseas missionary, a Philip Yancey, or Max Lucado. I’ll likely never engage in conversation without stumbling on my words, but I can proclaim God’s goodness, and that’s enough.

As one who’s tasted firsthand the sweetness of grace, who knows the freedom Christ brings, and who’s experienced His healing touch, my heart’s desire is to help others do the same. But often, I’m much too aware of the ways I come up short. I’m the woman who frequently sticks her foot in her mouth, halts conversations with the most awkward comments, jumbles facts, and struggles to remember Scripture despite hours of recitation.

And yet, I can proclaim.

1 Peter 2:9 says I’m a part of a royal priesthood, a holy nation, of God’s own people, not so I can impress others or be part of an exclusive club but instead, in order that I “may proclaim the mighty acts of Him who called [me] out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

I can always tell others about all God has done for me—what my life was like before I surrendered to His leading and all the ways He’s shown up since. That’s something we can all do, and that’s something no one can refute.

If you belong to Christ and are living in Him, you’re proof positive of God’s incredible saving power. So proclaim it!
