Tim Sanders is a writer and speaker who is often quoted in the national media. Billed as a "people-centric business expert," he's widely respected in corporate circles. He recently spoke at the Talk Media Conference in Dallas where my co-host, John Fuller had the opportunity to attend and participate.

I was particularly impressed with this thought that Mr. Sanders shared during one of the sessions:

Giving is critical. The mind is a success mechanism when you point it somewhere. When you give, you refocus the mind on what you have, not what you lack. When I face people in uncertain situations my prescription is always the same -- give your way out of fear. Especially if you can give to people who can never repay you. Helping the helpless helps you to understand the wealth you really have and the capabilities you are still left with. Giving is a wonder drug. There is no malady or physical ailment that can survive the impact of generosity. Whether you are mentoring someone at work, or helping a customer find a new business opportunity, giving triggers a reward center in your brain.

Tim is exactly right. After all, it was the Lord Himself who said that "It is more blessed to give than to receive"(Acts 20:35).

If you want to experience a joy that won't fade but actually increase with time -- give. If you want to make a difference in the life of another person -- give. If you want to be used by God -- give.If you want to be part of something bigger than yourself – give.

Over the course of my 50 years of life, I have come to this conclusion:

Giving is the most exciting and wondrous form of living.
