Genesis 49:24-26

But his bow remained steady,
his strong arms stayed limber,
because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob,
because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,
because of your father’s God, who helps you,
because of the Almighty, who blesses you
with blessings of the heavens above,
blessings of the deep that lies below,
blessings of the breast and womb.
Your father’s blessings are greater
than the blessings of the ancient mountains,
than the bounty of the age-old hills.

Dear Alek,

Always go after the best blessings--the ones from God. There are many things to chase after in the world. Temptations for your time and for your heart are guaranteed. But you are not a slave to the things that draw you.

Weigh how you spend your time, the thoughts that fill your head, and the words that come from your mouth. And seek after the blessing of the Lord.

Prayer:

Lord, fill Alek with the desires of Your heart. In Psalm 37:4, You tell us, "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." Make Your desires the desires of Alek's heart. Stand in front of all those other things that beckon. Draw Alek to You, and then bless him when he obeys. Show Him that You are just as real now as You have ever been. Reveal not only your plans for his life, but Yourself as well. Let him come to know You in a fresh new way today. Thank you.
