Permission Granted

“Mommy, can I have a piece of gum?”

“Mommy, can I get a drink of water?”

“Mommy, can I watch this TV show?”

There are many days I get tired of giving answers for seemingly redundant questions. I’m grateful my 3 girls know to ask permission things but as a parent there comes a point where you hope they just know the answer.

For instance, by this point in their lives [11,9 and 6 years old] they should know if they ask for a piece of candy right before dinner, its going to be, “no.”

But, they still ask.

I’ve never denied them water so ANY time of the day water is always a “yes”.

You don’t have to ask, just get your drink of water.

And when I’ve said “no” a thousand times to a TV show, why do they ask me again?

Permission.

We are taught [or at least should be] from a young age to ask for things we aren’t sure about.

But have you ever felt like you needed God’s stamp of approval to move forward with the God-dreams inside you?

“God, are you sure this is what you want me to do?”

We are unsure so, we wait. We look for signs, confirmations and the green light.

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” – Philippians 2:13

But, what if we go to that ministry leader with our idea and they say, “No”?

What if we go to a book publisher with our manuscript and they say, “Thanks but, no thanks”?

Or what about signing up for a costly mission trip and no one seems to want to donate?

What if it seems like no one will give us permission to do the things God has placed in our hearts?

I understand how painful it is when we can’t seem to get people behind our God-ideas. Rejection hurts… especially when our motive behind a dream, vision, or idea is for building the Kingdom of God.

It’s easy to give up when we can’t get anyone to believe in us.

Perhaps today we need to realize God’s given the green light. The big-wild-crazy-world-changing-thinking we have is from Him.

No matter what the world says, stay with your God-dream. God is still looking for some people to be able to see past all their doubts to make a big difference in this world.

You don't need permission from anyone to do what God has called you to do.

Go. Do it. Be bold. Don’t give up.

He's already stamped your purpose: "permission granted".
