An atheist teacher in Florida is under fire for calling her students “cretins” and complaining about them in an online forum.

According to OneNewsNow.com, Susan Creamer, a teacher at Merritt Brown Middle School in Panama City, Florida, claimed that her students were “bullying and harassing” her because they invited her to church.

In a closed Facebook group, Creamer wrote, “There is a bevy of boys in one of my classes who are taking turns either inviting me to their church or leaving (anonymously) flyers inviting me to church events. Today, I found one on the A/V cart I use for a podium."

She went on to accuse the students of deliberately trying to make her uncomfortable:

"Every time any child sneezes, they loudly say 'God bless you!' and look in my direction,” Creamer complained. “I have complained twice to my principal – one last month and once today. She has spoken privately to one or two of the little cretins, but it seems to do NO GOOD.”

“I am feeling bullied and harassed … It has become intolerable,” Creamer told other users on the atheist Facebook page. “I don't feel like talking with the parents will stop the inappropriate behaviors because, for all I know, the parents are encouraging them."

Creamer is now under fire for her comments, because even though she posted them in a closed group, a user took a screenshot and her words got out.

School district policy states that teachers cannot criticize students in person or on the internet.

Bay District Schools spokesperson Karen Tucker said that it makes no difference that the Facebook group was a closed group.

“I don't think it matters, because eventually someone else is going to see it posted, which is what happened,” Tucker stated. “People were re-posting. If you said things on there – which she did, about students – no, I don't think it matters."
