Pro-life advocate Troy Newman has been barred entry to Australia where he was scheduled as a speaker on a pro-life tour.

LifeNews.com reports that Newman, who is on the board of directors of the Center for Medical Progress, the organization that released the undercover Planned Parenthood videos, was prohibited from boarding his connecting flight from Denver, CO to Los Angeles, CA, en route to Australia.

A video Newman took on his cell phone shows United Airlines officials refusing to allow him to board his flight from Denver to Los Angeles due to the Australian government’s decision.

“How a foreign government can ban an American from traveling within the U.S. is beyond me. It is a complete violation of Troy’s rights as a U.S. citizen,” said Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Policy Advisor for pro-life group Operation Rescue.

The Australian government claims that Newman supports killing abortion practitioners and that he advocates other violent measures in his pro-life campaign. Because of these allegations, they have revoked his visa.

Sullenger is working quickly to reverse the Australian government’s decision and to get Newman to Australia on time for his speaking tour.

LifeNews.com reports that, instead of advocating violence in his pro-life campaign, Newman encourages activists to work within the government system and to work for pro-life measures peacefully.

“This is political persecution, plain and simple, as well as an attempt to silence the pro-life message in Australia,” she stated.

LifeNews.com reports that those interested in helping Troy Newman can contact the Australian Embassy and ask them to release him and restore his visa.
