Billy Graham ‘Doing Well’ Just Ahead of 98th Birthday

Evangelist Billy Graham is “doing well” as he prepares to celebrate his 98th birthday with his family, his son said.

Franklin Graham told RNS Thursday (Nov. 3) they are planning to get him one of his favorite treats to mark the special day on Monday.

“He likes these cheap birthday cakes that have that lard icing on them,” Franklin Graham said. “I’m going to go get him one of those cheap birthday cakes from the local grocery store, and we’ll celebrate his birthday.”

Billy Graham first gained prominence after his Los Angeles crusade in 1949. Since then, he has written 33 books and preached the gospel to more people in live audiences than anyone else in history (nearly 215 million people), according to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He has reached many more through TV, video, film and webcasts, and also counseled U.S. presidents.

“To think that at 98 years of age he is still with us!” Franklin Graham said.
