Bobbie Houston, the co-founder and co-Global Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church, has reportedly been let go by the global megachurch.

This comes just two weeks after her husband, Brian Houston, also a co-founder of the Australia-based church, resigned from his role as co-Global Senior Pastor.

According to a screenshot of a text conversation presumably between Bobbie and a Hillsong leader, Bobbi was sent a text message telling her she would soon be receiving an email regarding her employment status with the church, News.com.au reports.

“Dear Bobbie, I wanted to text you to let you know I will be sending an email shortly regarding your employment. Please let me know if you would like to talk about it or if you have questions,” an unidentified Hillsong leader texted Bobbie.

“… I don’t even have words to express how cold and callous this has all become …” Bobbie responded.

According to Brian, who posted the screenshot to Facebook, this was the initial communication Bobbie received regarding the termination of her employment with the church.

“After 39 years of exemplary service and extraordinary faithfulness and fruitfulness, this is the communication Bobbie received from the Hillsong Church board as she is made redundant (effective immediately) through no choice of her own,” Brian captioned the screenshot.

“This just 3 weeks after she hosted her 26th year of Colour Conferences. (A total of 118 conferences around the world.) She has relentlessly served God and served people as she stood side by side with me for four decades leading Hillsong Church, faithful in the good times and the tough times alike,” he lamented.

“And we are supposed to act like this is all ok. It’s not! Our beautiful church is losing its soul,” he added.

Hillsong has yet to release a statement on this matter.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Brian resigned from his position as co-Global Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church late last month after he was accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with two women.

In one instance, Brian was accused of having sent inappropriate text messages to a former female Hillsong staffer.

Then, in 2019, while attending Hillsong’s annual conference, Houston reportedly spent 40 minutes inside another woman’s hotel room after losing his room key. At the time, Houston was drunk and had consumed prescription medication beyond the prescribed dose. Houston and the woman both say no sexual activity took place.

Hillsong Church was founded by Brian and Bobbi Houston in 1983. Today it is one of the largest megachurches in the world.
