A car bomb explosion in Turkey’s capital of Ankara has killed 37 and wounded over 100.

ABC News reports that the bomb targeted civilians at a bus stop. Turkey’s Health Minister, Mehmet Muezzinoglu, said that 30 victims died at the scene, while the others died after being taken to hospitals.

The United States had warned of a “potential terrorist plot to attack Turkish government buildings and housing located in the Bahcelievler area of Ankara” two days prior to the attack in Ankara. It is unknown whether the warning was related to the actual attack.

The U.S. has condemned the attack “which has taken innocent lives and injured scores,” according to National Security Council spokesman Ned Price.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to those killed and injured as well as to their loved ones," Price continued. "This horrific act is only the most recent of many terrorist attacks perpetrated against the Turkish people. The United States stands together with Turkey, a NATO Ally and valued partner, as we confront the scourge of terrorism."
