Christian Couple Buy a Home with Life Savings, Then Give it to Refugees

A U.K. couple recently put a down payment toward a new house, but when they heard about the plight of refugees in need they decided to allow an immigrant family to live in the house.
ChristianToday.com reports that Steph and Matthew Neville put a deposit down on a £100,000 (about $126,000) house in Birmingham, U.K., but when they read about the plight of refugees in need of housing, they decided to allow a refugee family to live in their new house.
Through Hope Projects, a ministry that works to help asylum-seekers in the West Midlands, the couple found a refugee family to live as tenants in their home.
The Nevilles will still own the home, but will rent it out to the refugee family. The couple also raised enough money to pay for the family’s first year of living expenses in the house.
"Like so many other people, we have been saving for all our working lives with the aim of using our savings to buy a house for ourselves. But when it came to it, we realised there were people who were destitute and desperate and who needed a house more than we did. We don't need a house because we've been living at Carrs Lane Church for three years and are really happy there,” shared Steph Neville.
“It is the perfect solution because we are investing our money in a property, yet are helping people who literally have nothing,” she continued.
