North Carolina Congresswoman Virginia Foxx recently shared on “The Church Boys” podcast that God gave her the sign she asked for when she was wondering whether to run for office.

Deseret National News reports that, in the recent interview, Foxx explains that her decision to become involved in politics was not a simple one. Foxx said she grew up very poor and that it was only by God’s guidance that she ended up in Congress.

"I have no reason at all to be there except for the hand of God,” she said.

While she was debating whether to run for office, Foxx shared that she prayed that God would make the path clear for her:

"I feel too humble to ask for a sign, but if you wanted to give me a sign, dear Lord, I'd appreciate it ... just one is all I need," she recalled praying.

Soon after, Foxx received a call from her pastor, telling her that he was praying for her. Foxx took this as the sign she had just prayed for.

She decided to run for office, and she won.

Foxx shares more details of her faith (she’s a Catholic) and about her experience in Congress in her soon-to-be-released book God is in the House: Congressional Testimonies of Faith, which includes a collection of essays from both Democrats and Republicans.
