David's Tent 424-day Worship Session to Take Place in DC

A 424-day, 10,000-hour praise and worship event is set to take place on the National Mall in Washington DC, beginning Sept. 11, 2015.

The event will welcome people from all denominations to participate in worship, no matter their language, musical style, or where they are from, as long as their worship is pure worship to Jesus, Breaking Christian News reports.

The event is called “David’s Tent DC,” and is modeled after King David’s devotion to the Lord 3,000 years ago. The Bible records that David hired 4,000 musicians and 288 singers to continuously sing and minister to God around the Ark of the Covenant.

“David’s Tent DC” will seek to promote 24/7 worship and praise of God, with worship teams taking turns leading the event.

David Hershey, director of David’s Tent DC, commented on the purpose of the event: "We have three motivations for doing this.First we know that Jesus is more than worthy of a lavish offering. It's that simple. Secondly, though, we do feel the urgency of the hour for America and this is intercession for our country. That we would respond to the worth of God with a fear of the Lord that would reform all things, including tens of millions of souls being saved. Thirdly, it's a public witness to the goodness of God, that people would encounter God, right there on the National Mall."

In addition to the continuous worship, the event will include a Bible Read-a-thon called “Ezra’s Platform" in which God’s Word will be read in order to bring about repentance, healing, and restoration.
