Donald Trump Disavows Alt-Right Groups

President-elect Donald Trump has officially disavowed alt-right groups after an alt-right conference in Washington, D.C. celebrated Trump’s win with an offensive Nazi salute.

Breitbart reports Trump denied he ever supported the alt-right and clearly affirmed this stance while visiting The New York Times.

“I don’t want to energize the group, and I disavow the group,” Trump said. “It’s not a group I want to energize. And if they are energized I want to look into it and find out why.”

The president-elect also clarified that his chief advisor, former Breitbart Executive chairman Steve Bannon is neither part of the alt-right or a racist.

“I’ve known Steve Bannon a long time. If I thought he was a racist, or alt-right… I wouldn’t even think about hiring him,” Trump said.
