An Egyptian court has banned the Muslim Brotherhood, meaning the group can no longer operate and organize protests, CBN News reports. The move is part of the military-backed government's crackdown against supporters of the ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi. The ruling, which will help authorities break down the Muslim Brotherhood's leadership and network, also ordered the organization's assets to be seized. The Muslim Brotherhood will have the opportunity to appeal the decision. The group had come out from an 85-year ban in 2011; they operated openly and became a recognized non-governmental organization and political party. Meanwhile, a committee plans to rewrite the constitution adopted by Morsi. His opponents say the constitution failed to guarantee human and women's rights.
