Ellen DeGeneres: Gospel Singer Kim Burrell Will Not Appear on Show Due to Views on Homosexuality

Gospel singer Kim Burrell was scheduled to perform with Pharrell Williams on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” but after she refused to apologize for denouncing homosexuality, her invitation to perform on the show was revoked.

According to CBN News, Burrell’s appearance on the show was cancelled after she said in a message she preached at Love & Liberty Fellowship Church in Houston, Texas that "The perverted homosexual spirit, and the spirit of delusion and confusion, it has deceived many men and women."

Burrell also reportedly refused to take back or apologize for her comments. She also condemned her “enemies” for allegedly circulating only a select portion of her message.

She did, however, clarify her statement against homosexuality: "I love you and God loves you," she said. "But God hates the sin."

Following the controversy, Ellen, who is a well-known lesbian, posted on Twitter: "For those asking, Kim Burrell will not be appearing on my show.”

Burrell was scheduled to perform a song with Williams from the film “Hidden Figures” about three African-American women working at NASA. The film is now in theaters.
