Faith Leaders Call for Prayer over Trump before Debate

A movement to fast and pray for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump began today (Monday) as Trump will face Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton tonight in the candidates’’ first debate against each other.

Charisma News reports that Pastor Frank Amedia of Touch Heaven Canfield Church in Canfield, Ohio said the Lord led him to start the prayer initiative.

"We are interceding to pull down strongholds, expose and strike down adversarial plots and strategies, bind every force that opposes the will of God, and loosen upon Mr. Trump the supernatural gifts of grace, favor, wisdom, revelation, power, peace and presidential authority," Amedia said.

Amedia believes that this election is about more than Democrat against Republican, but also has a spiritual element of good versus evil.

"I really don't believe that there is an intentional commitment from any political persuasion to fight against God, because the Bible says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but the forces of darkness,” Amedia continued. “Speaking for myself, and perhaps for other faith-based leaders, we clearly see that the conservative platform Mr. Trump is committed to is one that we need to support because there are so many areas that line up with our faith. But the spiritual warfare that surrounds this election is nothing that you and I don't experience all the time as children of God."

Other leaders are promoting the Kingdom Wide Prayer Watch, including It’s Supernatural television host Sid Roth, New Wine Ministries senior pastor Mario Bramnick, and senior pastor of New Destiny Christian Center, Paula White, who has spoken previously at Trump rallies.

The Kingdom Wide Prayer Watch began at six a.m. this morning and will continue through the debate tonight. Anyone interested in receiving prayer points and updates can visit revivalone.org.
