A Filmmaker has made a journey of faith to prove if the Exodus story as described in the Bible was a real historical event.

Christian Today reports that skeptics have questioned if the Exodus story was a real historical event for years. The story of the Israelites' escape from slavery in Egypt, march through the Red Sea, and eventual settling of the Promised Land in Canaan does read like a story that is larger than life.

Tim Mahoney, however, is now convinced of its historical truth.

“What started out as a crisis of my own faith led to an incredible journey of discovery,” Mahoney stated.

Mahoney said that many archaeologists say there is little evidence for the reality of the Exodus story in the historical record because they are looking in the wrong places.

"Most of the people who say there's no evidence [for the Exodus] are looking at a particular timeframe," Mahoney said. "When they look at that time frame they don't see any evidence of the Exodus and so the case is closed. ... This is a situation where people haven't asked the right questions.”

Mahoney has released his findings in a documentary titled Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus. In addition to examining the validity of the Exodus story, the documentary also looks at Joseph’s rule in Egypt and the Israelites’ conquest of Canaan, according to Christian Today.

Mahoney reports that the documentary has been well-received.

“Our dedicated team, who has worked tirelessly on Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus could not be more thrilled with the overwhelming support our film has received across the country,” he stated.
