Four Assemblies of God pastors have died after contracting the Ebola virus, Charisma News reports. The pastors from Monrovia, Liberia are among over 1,900 Africans that have now died as a result of the virus.

Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea have been hit especially hard with the deadly disease; many now face food shortages as the crisis wears on. The Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM) reports that members have reached out to West Africans with financial aid.

AGWM communications director Randy Hurst said, "We are grateful for the faithful giving of our donors that enabled us to respond. We did not have to appeal for funds and were able to immediately send aid to our African brothers and sisters."

Greg Mundis, AGWM executive director, said what West Africans need now is faith and prayer. “We need our churches to join us in earnestly praying that God will deliver our brothers and sisters from this dreaded disease, for many souls to be saved, and for the Holy Spirit to minister to those who are working directly with the suffering,” he said.
