A funeral was held for the Coptic Christians who died in last week’s EgyptAir Flight 805 plane crash that was heading from Paris to Cairo.

According to SRNNews.com, the funeral service was held in Cairo to commemorate the lives of nine Coptic Christians who were killed in last week’s crash which took the lives of the sixty-six people on board.

The funeral service in Cairo was held in the Boutrossiya Church, located inside Cairo’s St. Mark Cathedral, which is the seat of Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church.

Senior cleric Bishop Daniel led the service, comforting the mourning relatives of the deceased. The bishop also offered words of comfort on behalf of Pope Tawadros II, the leader of the Coptic church.

In addition to the Christian funeral service, a service was held at a Cairo mosque for the co-pilot of the flight, Mohamed Mamdouh.

Authorities are still searching for the downed flight that killed 30 Egyptians. The cause of the crash is not known, but terrorism is suspected.
