'God is Good Even through Hard Times,' Says Wisconsin Woman Who Lost Husband and Son in Farming Accident

A Wisconsin man and his son were killed this week in a farming accident when the grain inside a silo buried them and they were unable to escape.
FoxNews.com reports that 51-year-old Daniel Briel and his 14-year-old son David were victims of an “internal collapse of silage.”
Briel was a father of five children, and his other son, 15-year-old Caleb, was also helping out in the silo that day, but thankfully, Caleb was able to escape.
“In the farming world these accidents do happen, but they usually don’t lead to death,” stated Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald. “This one was just a tragic accident.”
After Caleb Briel escaped, he called 911, but by the time emergency personnel arrived to the rural dairy farm near Barron, Wisconsin, 45 minutes had gone by and Daniel Briel was already dead. David Briel had a weak pulse when he was pulled out, but he died shortly after.
In the midst of this horrific and unexpected tragedy, mother Melissa Briel said her faith in God is sustaining her.
“I have peace knowing that he was praying with our son,” Melissa Briel told FOX9. “I have peace knowing that he was holding onto our son.”
She also explained how the accident likely occurred: “This time of the year silage gets caught up on the side and you have to get it off when it warms, but it just so happened to be too big of a chunk.”
“God is good even through hard times,” she continued. “I want people to take away that God is there and if you keep your faith in him he’s going to see you through.”
