As the two-year anniversary of Pastor Saeed Abedini’s imprisonment in Iran nears, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) reports that the American minister now faces new death threats from Islamic State (IS) terrorists.

Abedini’s wife, Naghmeh, told ACLJ that IS prisoners have threatened to kill Abedini because of his Christian faith.

According to Charisma Magazine Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the ACLJ, which represents Naghmeh, said "This is an extremely dangerous development that puts Pastor Saeed's life at grave risk. Not only is Pastor Saeed facing threats from Iranian militants who have imprisoned him because of his Christian faith, he now faces new and perhaps even more dangerous threats from Iraqi ISIS prisoners who want to murder Pastor Saeed because of his faith.”

As previously reported by Christian Headlines, IS is the acronym that originally stood for the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant and then changed to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, but more recently has shortened its name to simply, Islamic State.

Naghmeh is calling on Christians around the world to pray for her husband and other persecuted Christians September 26, 2014, the anniversary of Saeed’s imprisonment.
