The Duggar clan has welcomed their newest edition, Jessa Duggar Seewald and husband Ben Seewald’s new baby boy.

The Christian Post reports that, in an interview, the couple shared how they arrived at a name for their baby boy. After asking fans for suggestions, the couple decided to name their baby Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, in honor of two beloved figures of the Christian faith

Charles Spurgeon was a 19th century Baptist preacher known as the “Prince of Preachers” while Jim and Elisabeth Elliot were missionaries to a remote tribe of Indians in Ecuador. Jim was martyred by those he was trying to evangelize and Elisabeth went back to minister to the same people who killed her husband.

The baby was born at home, at Jessa’s request, with Duggar matriarch Michelle and a midwife present. Jessa endured a 48-hour labor before delivering the baby, and had to be rushed to the hospital directly afterward for a blood transfusion.

The couple is now happy and healthy back at their Springdale, Arkansas home.
