Large Scale Manhunt underway for 'Person of Interest' in NY Subway Mass Shooting

Police have named a “person of interest” in the Brooklyn subway mass shooting that left 10 shot and another 13 injured.
According to the New York Times, late Tuesday afternoon, police named 62-year-old Frank R. James as a person of interest in the shooting.
A key belonging to a U-Haul van rented by James in Philadelphia was among a collection of items recovered from the train believed to belong to the gunman. Police also recovered a Glock 9-millimeter handgun, three ammunition magazines, a hatchet, a liquid believed to be gasoline and fireworks.
Late Tuesday, police found James’ van abandoned on the street, about five blocks from Kings Highway station, where the shooter is believed to have boarded the train.
According to ABC 7 News, James is currently at large, and an extensive manhunt involving officials from the U.S. Marshals, NYPD, FBI, ATF and other agencies is underway this morning.
“We are endeavoring to locate him to determine his connection to the subway shooting, if any,” New York Police Department’s chief of detectives James Essig said.
Around 8:30 am on Tuesday, a man donning a construction vest, helmet and gas mask tossed two smoke grenades onto the floor of a full car on the N train headed towards the 36th Street station in the Sunset Park neighborhood. The man, described by police as “heavyset” and “dark-skinned,” then opened fire on the train car, letting off 33 rounds before fleeing.
The New York Times reports that 23 people were injured in the incident, with 10 of the injured being shot and 13 others suffering from injuries related to falls, panic attacks and smoke inhalation. The 10 gunshot victims make this incident the worst shooting in the history of the New York City subway. As of this writing, five of the victims are in critical condition.
Following the shooting, New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a statement noting that he and his team were “praying for all New Yorkers who were injured or affected by today’s attack.”

He added that his team was working with city, state and federal officials on the matter.
President Biden also sent his prayers to the victims, writing on Twitter, “Jill and I are praying for those injured in the New York City subway shooting. We are grateful for the first responders and civilians who jumped into action. My team has been in touch with city officials, and we are working to support efforts on the ground.”

Police have issued a $50,000 reward for James’ arrest.
