Leader of Mosque Offers Building to Church in Need of Worship Space

The leader of a mosque offered the building to a church that didn’t have a place to meet--a gesture that the church’s pastor said began “a beautiful relationship” between the two congregations.
Christian Today reports that the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lansing, Michigan did not have a place to meet for worship because there were construction delays on its new building.
When he heard about the church’s dilemma, imam Sohail Chaudhry reached out to Rev. Kathryn Bert, inviting Bert and her congregation to use the Islamic Society of Greater Lansing as a meeting place until their church’s building was finished.
"It's been a lovely story to live. It has been a beautiful relationship,” stated Bert, adding that Chaudhry offered the building to her church for “No charge whatsoever.”
"It worked out well for us both," Chaudhry told the Lansing State Journal, adding that he hoped the partnership would “provide an example to other faith-based communities around the nation.”
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation plans to move into its new building in May.
