A church bus driver will not face charges after a 4-year-old girl fell from the back of the bus onto the road, police said.

A dash cam from an emergency medical technician who happened to be following the bus caught video of the moment the girl fell from the bus in Harrison, Arkansas.

"My heart sank," Ryan Ciampoli, the medical technician, told CNN. "That's the first time I've ever seen it in my life, in person. It didn't look real. I had to do a double-take."

Ciampoli stopped and moved the girl from the hot roadway and away from traffic.

"It was unbelievable. Once I picked her up and put her in my arms, it was heartbreaking. She just had this horrified look on her face," he said.

She suffered a broken jaw and will have to have surgery.

Police say the male driver was either taking the children to or from church. Children on the bus told police that the girl pulled the latch on the rear exit door, opened it and fell out. The driver kept driving, but after the children alerted the driver, he pulled over.

"The driver of the bus will not face any charges as this was just a tragic accident," said Paul Woodruff, chief of the Harrison Police Department.
