Actor and director Mel Gibson has revealed that he is working on a sequel to “The Passion of the Christ” which he says will be called “The Resurrection.”

Gibson recently joined Stephen Colbert on The Late Show and discussed his plans for this upcoming movie.

“It’s not just about the event,” Gibson revealed. “It’s not just some kind of chronological telling of just that event. That could be boring. You’re thinking, ‘Well, we read that.’”

“I don’t know if it’d be boring: God becomes man, and rises from the dead—it’s never going to be a snoozer,” Colbert joked.

“But what are the other things around it that happen?” Gibson continued “They are [bad guys]. They’re in another realm … You’re going all over the place. What happened in three days?”

Colbert then talks about the Bible’s account of Jesus descending into hell and the supernatural events that occurred.

Gibson's exploration of the spiritual events that occurred surrounding the Resurrection are sure to make the upcoming film an interesting one.

According to ChristianToday.com, however, Gibson said this film will take at least three years to make because “it’s a big subject.”

Gibson’s most recent film "Hacksaw Ridge" was released today. The film has high ratings from both critics and fans.
