Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace has announced that he is working with Catholic actor and director Mel Gibson on a sequel to The Passion of the Christ.

The original film ended with Jesus walking out of the tomb, but did not go on to show what happened after His resurrection. FoxNews.com reports that the sequel will focus on the resurrection and the events that occured after Jesus was raised from the dead.

"I always wanted to tell this story. The Passion is the beginning and there's a lot more story to tell," Wallace told the Hollywood Reporter. “The evangelical community considers The Passion the biggest movie ever out of Hollywood, and they kept telling us that they think a sequel will be even bigger," he added.

It has not been revealed what role or how big of a role Gibson will have in the upcoming film.

The original film was released in 2004 and starred Jim Caviezel as Jesus. It made $612 million worldwide.
