Sudanese Christian Meriam Ibrahim has been released from prison reports the AP. The 27-year-old had been in prison with her 20-month-old son and 4-week-old daughter awaiting a sentence of 100 lashes and hanging for apostasy.

Ibrahim had previously refused to renounce her Christian faith, a crime punishable by death for Sudanese born Muslim.

Sudan’s news agency said, “The appeal court ordered the release of Meriam Ibrahim and the cancellation of the [previous] court ruling.” The Court of Cassation made the official release orders.

Ibrahim's attorney, Thabit Elzubir said that Ibrahim had been united with her husband. The family is now safely in their south Khartoum home.
