Mike Huckabee Says Obama 'Pretends to be a Christian'

Mike Huckabee recently voiced his disappointment with how Obama welcomed Pope Francis and stated that he doubts the sincerity of the President’s claims that he is a Christian.
The former Arkansas governor and current presidential candidate said that he believes Obama "pretends to be a Christian,” according to The Christian Post.
Huckabee was asked in a recent interview to comment on Ben Carson’s controversial statement that he would not support a Muslim as president. Instead of responding to that question, Huckabee used the opportunity to talk about Obama’s reception of Pope Francis who is currently on a U.S. tour, making stops in Washington D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia.
Huckabee said that it was “very unseemly” for Obama to invite Pope Francis to the White House along with individuals who were in direct opposition to the Catholic Church’s practices. Huckabee said he believed the actions show Obama’s disrespect for the Christian faith.
“I welcome @Pontifex to America &offer my apologies that @POTUS will not offer him the warm, respectful welcome he deserves #PopeInUS," Huckabee wrote on Twitter.
Huckabee has been a staunch supporter of religious freedom. He was supportive of Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis who refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses because of religious convictions.
Huckabee stated that he did not believe President Obama protects religious freedom as he should.
"I'm also concerned about a guy that believes he's a Christian and pretends to be and then says he is, but then does things that makes it very difficult for people to practice their Christian faith," he said.
