Naghmeh Abedini, wife of recently-released pastor Saeed Abedini, is asking for prayer for her family as they are reunited and begin healing.

Christian Today reports that, although there is much rejoicing over Saeed’s recent release from an Iranian prison where he had been held for three years, it may still be a long road ahead for the Abedini family.

Saeed suffered physically, mentally, and emotionally while imprisoned, although he is said to be in a healthy condition upon returning to the U.S.

Also, while her husband was still imprisoned, Naghmeh revealed that she and Saeed struggled in their marriage, and that Saeed abused her physically, emotionally, psychologically, and sexually through his addiction to pornography. Naghmeh added that this abuse began early on in their marriage and got worse once Saeed was imprisoned.

The couple is currently receiving counseling for these issues.

“Please pray for us as we will be spending weeks or possibly months healing as a family and going through counseling. I am thankful for Franklin Graham for coming along side our family through this next steps of the difficult journey ahead," Naghmeh shared on her Facebook page.

Although the family needs prayer for the struggles that are yet ahead for them, they are also rejoicing that Saeed is home and that their son may get his wish of going to Disneyland for his eighth birthday in March with his father.
