New Bill Would Force Colleges to Publicize Religious Exemptions

A Democratic legislator from Massachusetts has introduced a bill that would make it mandatory for colleges and universities to publicize their religious exemptions.
SRNNews.com reports that, if passed, the new law would require colleges and universities that apply for or receive exemptions based on their religious beliefs to be forced to make clear that they have such exemptions.
Congresswoman Katherine Clark, who introduced the bill, says colleges and universities should be able to exercise their faith, but that faith should not be an excuse for discrimination.
Clark alleges that the exemptions foster discrimination against LGBT students in many different spheres of higher education, including admissions, financial aid, housing, and sports.
The bill would require the colleges and universities to publicize their religious exemptions on their websites.
