An expert on Nigeria has claimed that some Christians have joined the Boko Haram. Dr. Murray Last, an anthropologist with expertise in Nigeria, said in an interview with Radio France Internationale that Christians have joined Boko Haram for steady employment.

Last said, "The problem is that of course as far as we know it's quite a good job. At one point you could be paid 400 dollars a month for just simply joining them, you wouldn't have to go fighting, you would spend your first months doing logistics or training.”

He continued, "It's quite profitable joining Boko Haram because you not only loot places, but you share the loot out at the end."

Last told Christian Today that his belief that Christians are involved with Boko Haram due to witnesses from locals and journalists.

Boko Haram follows Islamic extremist ideologies. Though the exact number of militants is unknown, officials believe the terrorist organization includes at least 5,000 members.
