Farshid Fathi, an Iranian pastor who has been imprisoned for his faith since 2010, has received news that he will be released early. Fathi was serving a six-year sentence for exercising his Christian faith freely.

Fathi’s new prison release date is Dec. 10, 2015. Originally, the pastor was supposed to be held until Dec. 2017.

Christian Today reports Fathi was arrested on Dec. 26, 2010 and later convicted of “action against the national security” for his evangelism. He was later sentenced with an additional year of prison time on false charges.

Fathi has been separated from his wife and two children throughout his prison sentence.

The pastor has been a Christian since the age of 17.
