Police Officers Buy Elderly Man in Need $160 Worth of Food

Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee police responded to an emergency call from an elderly man who said he hadn’t eaten in two days by buying him $160 worth of groceries.
According to The Blaze, the 79-year-old man dialed 911 and explained that his caretaker had stolen his debit card and he hadn’t been able to buy food, so he hadn’t eaten in two days.
The five officers who responded to the man’s call first went to a local grocery store and bought food for him out of their own funds.
Officers reported that the man was shocked when they showed up with the bags of food.
“I think he was shocked — at the amount of food that we bought and just the fact that it was there without question,” officer Nathan Bolton told WKRN.
“It’s difficult for us to see as police officers. We’re out here to take care of the public at large and that doesn’t always mean stopping a car. Sometimes it’s us doing little things like this,” officer Mark Billions added.
Officers were also able to track down the man’s caretaker, 36-year-old Tammy Brooks, who they arrested on charges of theft and fraudulent use of a debit card.
